Our course prepares you for the key elements of obtaining a Private Hire Vehicle Driver’s (PHV) License, including:
Topographical Assessment
The Topographical Skills assessment ensures you can use an A-Z Guide to locate places, as well as to plan routes (of varying distances) from one point to another. You will need to obtain your certificate from an accredited test centre.
Safety, equality and regulatory understanding requirements (SERU)
London PHV drivers must have an appropriate knowledge of safety, equality and regulatory requirements that apply to them. This helps ensure public safety and will enhance levels of customer service.
English Language Assessment Test (ELR)
The speaking and listening test consists of a 15-20-minute conversation.
The assessment will be undertaken at a TfL Driver Assessment Centre via a secure video or telephone link to our service provider, PeopleCert.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a PHV Driver’s Licence:
- You need to be at least 21 years old
- Must have a UK driving licence for 3 years
- Have a valid Criminal Record Check (DBS) check.
- Complete a medical examination,
- Complete the Topographical Skills Assessment
- Complete the Safety, equality and regulatory understanding requirements (SERU)
- Take the English Language test.
